Norman Griffiths Oval, West Pymble

Norman Griffiths Oval in West Pymble is surrounded by “Critically Endangered” Sydney Turpentine Ironbark Forest (STIF) bushland and drains directly to Lane Cove National Park (LCNP) and Lane Cove River via Quarry Creek.

In November 2021, the Mayor of Ku-ring-gai Municipal Council signed a letter advising Turf One (a construction company specializing in synthetic turf) to proceed with the design and construct phase of a synthetic field development at Norman Griffiths Oval, despite the lack of any completed study into the environmental effects of the project on the surrounding environment.

Update: April 2023 – The construction of a synthetic field proceeds without the agreed period of community consultation following publication of the REF.
